And so the year winds to a close, it may have been a tumultuous one and there will be time to contemplate the past years happenings whilst we stay aware of that which is timeless the ever-present present moment. Through the clarity of our core being we prepare to enter the new year in a loving open and inspired way. We will end 2019 with a delicious 3 course dinner and a glass of good champagne, a possible dip in the jacuzzi after midnight and possible northern lights as our fireworks.
On the first day of the new year we will be visiting a Sami camp. The Sami people have a culture that dates back thousands of years, they have been the closest allies to the natural habitat there in living in and with nature and keeping and caring for the reindeer local to the Scandinavian region and they have a culture and way of life that is uniquely their own. we will get the chance to be around the almost 200 reindeer herd that roam freely and that we are also allowed to feed. There is also a 30 minute sleigh ride with the reindeer after which there will be hot coffee and tea in a Gamme (traditional Sami hut) with a camp fire, there will be story telling in traditional Sami way and folk songs after which a 3 course Sami dinner will be served (with reindeer meat or salmon but there is also a vegetarian option of course).
Through yoga and meditation there will be a focus on the pure and simple joy of existence itself, and for those who wish to go even higher there is the possibility of taking a cable car up to the top of the mountain (421 meters above sea-level) with an exceptional view of Tromsø and the Norwegian landscape. (see one of the pictures above)
Tromsø is 350 kilometers above the pole circle and is also called the Paris of the north, the chance of seeing the northern lights is good with clear weather because this city with almost 75.000 inhabitants lies in the ‘aurora belt’.
On Friday the 3rd of January we will fly back home with an open heart and clear mind.
